The fitness craze going on today has resulted in everyone trying to find the perfect cardio workout for them. Everyone needs to find that thing they feel passionate about so they can stay motivated in their workout routine. Some people job, some dance, some do aerobics, but whatever they do, it’s their thing. One cardio workout that has been wildly underutilized is cardio swimming.
Cardiovascular workouts get your heart pumping, enhance your lung capacity, and make your blood move swiftly throughout your body, which results in burning a lot of calories. If that is your goal, swimming helps you achieve all four of the elements that make cardio workouts effective. When used property, swimming will have amazingly beneficial results.

It’s a muscle and it needs to be exercised so it can be strong enough to do its job. When you swim, the water makes you feel virtually weightless, so you aren’t aware of how much effort you’re putting into your cardio workout. It almost feels effortless, but it’s not. Swimming movements engage the arms and legs respectively. It’s these movements that help your body send more oxygen and blood to your organs and tissues. Overall, your heart pumps harder when you swim, which helps strengthen it and improves its condition.
Optimal Calorie Burning
If you count calories, you’re probably also looking to burn excess calories. Swimming burns a lot of calories quicker and more efficiently that most other forms of cardio exercises. Harvard Medical School did a study and reported that when a 125-pound person swims using the backstroke for 30 minutes, they burn 240 calories. This same person can also burn 300 calories in 30 minutes of performing the breaststroke and 330 calories in the same amount of time using the butterfly or front crawl swimming styles.
