Bullying is not just an act you can watch happen. Many people commit suicide or hurt themselves every day because of bullying. Most bullies show they they are jealous of you and probably want something you have. If you sit there and let the bully harass you and be mean, your self esteem will decrease and you will get insecure. Bullies are people we need to stop, and only you can do it by standing up for yourself and others. Some ways to stand up to a bully is to ignore the bully, confront the bully, or tell a trusted adult. The first way to stand up to a bully is to ignore them. For example, if someone is being mean to you or making fun of you just walk away and don’t say a word. In fact, if you do say something mean back to the bully, you and the bully could both serve consequences. My mom once told me, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” Times like these I know to walk away and not make another wrong or rude comment. One day in the halls my friend and I dressed badly on purpose to see what people would say. We knew people would say something and of course they did. We had some people say “ew what are you wearing” and others telling us we …show more content…
For example, my friend tried ignoring the bully, but that wasn’t working. My friend then took it to the next step which was confronting the bully by talking to them face to face. I’ve read in a book “confronting the bully has consequences that can be good or bad, but it works most of the time. I know confronting the bully could work or could go wrong. My friend eventually confronted the bully by going up to him and telling him he was hurting her feelings and asked him to please stop. Doing this only worked for about a week or so till he started to harass her and be mean again. All in all, we now know we can stop the bully for short periods of time, unless this method stops working and we need to take it to the next
