Persuasive Essay On Buckeyes

If you woke up Thursday morning and were freaked out by the reports that four Ohio State players had been suspended for the season opener against Virginia Tech, then you should go back to bed, lay down and take a nap, because this isn't much of a headline. First off, clearly the biggest loss is Joey Bosa, a possible number one overall pick, and the leader of the Ohio State defense. Yet, with all that being said, the Buckeyes will be able to make it out of one game without Bosa against the team receiving the twenty-ninth most votes in the Amway Coaches Poll, Virginia Tech. Adolphus Washington will likely hold down the defensive line, put he won't be without help. Don't be surprised if Jalyn Holmes a former 4-Star defensive end from Virginia makes an impact, he's not Bosa but is talent and has played well when given snaps. Also, Ohio State …show more content…
You may have heard of Braxton Miller, he's a two-time Offensive Player of the Year for the Big Ten, and a former Heisman Candidate. Well, this past month, the self appointed best athlete in college football, decided to switch positions to a hybrid wide receiver, amid shoulder injuries and a three way quarterback controversy, that college football has never seen the likes of before. With Wilson and Marshall out, Miller will get thrown into the spotlight at H-Back sooner than maybe thought, and he'll be a dangerous weapon. If you thought Urban Meyer did great things with Percy Harvin, imagine what he can do with Miller, who already knows the playbook, maybe a better athlete than Harvin, and Meyer has said that Miller will be a "impact player", and is working hard to get better even calling him a top five "grinder" on the team. Plus, Miller won't be the number one option like Harvin, as defenses will have to account for Ezekiel Elliot and whoever lines up at quarterback as the first two

Examining Dak Prescott and the Cowboys current state at backup There’s nothing to hide behind the curtain of the Cowboys’ roster when delving into the strengths and areas of concern. If not ravaged with injuries like it was last season, an offensive unit that’s armored with a plethora of talent and a run-first philosophy to clout opposing defenses with a punishing ground game could get head coach Jason Garrett’s squad back to contention. Knock on wood, there hasn’t been any major injuries this summer on the offensive side of the ball, thus far, and although it’s too early to imprint rookie quarterback Dak Prescott as Tony Romo’s heir or as the solution at backup if Romo misses time again due to injury – the young and athletic slinger exhibited some eye-catching goods in the Cowboys’ first preseason game against the Rams last Saturday.…

The Oregon Ducks have been the greatest powerhouse and go to college school to beat for over the past five years. With a new offensive coach brought in during their 2007 season (Chip Kelly) Oregon's potent spread offense attack was an unstoppable force, and college teams had never seen anything like it. The Ducks would lead their conference (Pac-12) in scoring (38.15 points per game) (ESPN, 2011) and would also set several new school records for offensive yards and become the highest scoring team in their division. What defines a great team over any other team?…

As we get through OTA's and begin yet another preseason in Tampa Bay, we believe we have the right guys in place on defense. With the acquisitions of Vinny Curry, J.P.P., Mitch Unrein, and Beau Allen added to the defensive line, it adds the depth we have not had in a long time! The line will consist of Gerald McCoy and Vita Vea mainly at the DT position, with Unrein and Allen likely as reserves, but those two, just might end up playing a bigger role than anyone thinks!…

The 45th annual BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl features two of college football’s top traditional powers. On New Years Day, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will battle in sunny Glendale, Ariz. Ohio State The Buckeyes saw their College Football Playoff hopes disappear when Michigan State Spartans kicker Michael Geiger hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the Horseshoe on Nov. 21. Despite the fact Urban Meyer's team would no longer hold a top four ranking, the loss to Michigan State may have been the best thing that happened to Ohio State this season. Dealing with adversity is the only way to grow as a team, a notion implied by University of Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh as he once referenced a quote from “The Lion King”: "The past can hurt.…

Jets need to move fast and sign Ryan Fitzpatrick Given the fact that Ryan Fitzpatrick is better than Geno smith, the New York jets will make a huge blunder if they don’t re-sign him. That being said, it is high time they commit and make good their promise. They don’t have the luxury of time to allow the contract dispute to spill through the entire season since it would be unfair to both the team and Geno Smith. Signing Fitzpatrick will be in line with the NFL predictions against the spread expert picks, analysis and grade for the games in the season.…

Requiem For The Big East is about a great conference that dominated men’s college basketball for a long time of the past 35 years, held the highest conference tournament at New York’s Madison Square Garden. It’s too satisfying in the long run, continually returning to the final Syracuse/Georgetown conference matchup in the semifinal of the 2013 Big East tournament. Conferences like the Pac-12, the Big Ten, and ACC that have had relatively equal success in football and basketball are still standing. And it’s sad that the Big East, the main event for the northeast basketball schools that often didn’t have the best campuses of state universities elsewhere in the country, was forced to participate in an athletic revenue…

PEDs From very early on, athletes have found ways of getting a step ahead of the rest by a vast range of procedures, legal and illegal, safe and dangerous, ethical and non-ethical. The first Olympians were no different; the origins of enhancing performance can be traced back to athletes eating specially prepared lizard meat, thought to give them a slight advantage to the rest. Naturally every athlete would like to perform at a higher level than everyone else, but many of the methods for becoming the best have been questioned and regulated for years. Both sides of this debate, for and against therefore mentioned regulations, have their strong points and hold very strongly in the public’s eyes.…

Most adults’ favorite memories are from their past years participating in sporting events throughout their high school careers. They may not have realized it at the time, but they created memories and friendships to last a lifetime. High school athletes of future generations could not have the opportunity to invent vivid, unforgettable memories and such close relationships as our older generations had the chance to do. Not only could our future students miss out on memories and fun, but they could lack the life skills which athletes gain from participating in sports. High schools should continue to offer sports to provide students with leadership skills, opportunities for community involvement, and college scholarships to prepare for a bright,…
