There are big problems with our nation that can been fixed easily, but we keep looking the other way. Currently, there are millions of pounds of pollutants being released into our atmosphere by our cars and freight laden trucks. Not to mention our health, our money, and our countries independence are being neglected do to the overuse of oil. These problems at hand can all be fixed with a large railroad system spreading throughout the continental United States. This is not issue at all. The unemployed people that were responsible for keeping the highways running will be able to get jobs on the new railroads. As for the individuals that were responsible for manufacturing the semi-trucks they will be able to build locomotives and service them as well.
If you were not worried about losing your job then you were probably worried about losing your land. Just like a public roadway the interconnected railways will use public and private land. Eminent domain will be used to source the land from its owners, however; the land owners will receive just compensation for their property (Eminent Domain). It should be noted that the new railway projects will do their best to stay away from taking peoples land. In the case that they must enact eminent domain the ground with the least impact to its owner will be chosen.
The way into the future will be paved with an ever expanding railroad network. Its purpose will be aimed at making the environment cleaner, making it easier to get a job, and cutting our ties from Western countries. These three factors alone will increase the standard of living in America in ways we have not seen in decades. It is time to vote for a change, a change to have railroads brought back to the top of transportation
