According to United States Department of Health and Human Services, “Formula and feeding supplies can cost well over $1,500 each year. Breastfed babies may also be sick less often, which can help you keep your baby’s health cost lower.” Breast milk is a natural food from mothers and cost a family nothing. When you breastfeed, you don’t’ need money to buy breast milk. There are no feeding bottles, pacifiers, and nipples involve and this saves you money to spend on other important family issues. Besides, formula and feeding bottles are very expensive and time consuming when you have to measure, mix formula and warm it before feeding. Not forgetting sterilizing the bottles. Moreover, according to Keren and Gale Pryor, “…mature milk contains water, fat carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals, amino acids, enzymes and white cells. Over the course of feeding, breastmilk changes from foremilk, high in water and lactose, to hind milk high in fats and calories.” Breastfeeding exclusively with no added water will cause no harm to babies. Overall, these are some of the reasons why I will encourage mothers to exclusively feed their babies with breastmilk. This is because breast milk is an important food in the first six months to a year of a baby’s life as exclusive breastfeeding help them to develop a resistance to diseases, saves money, and brings love and good health to the family.
