A popular complaint for breastfeeding in public, is it is inappropriate for children to witness women breastfeeding because children are exposed to private parts. Given that, “breasts are not genitals” (Gratcyk), and women and men both have chests with nipples, together these are nonsexual and appropriate facts for children. Some adults argue it is uncomfortable to give an explanation to children, but really it seems quite simple. Their explanation could be as quick and painless as the five words, “She is feeding her baby”.

Given that, more than likely the mother and her baby would have to resort to an unsanitary public restroom. The mother would have to sit on a toilet or awkwardly stand there while enduring the scent of complete strangers relieving themselves of human waste. Fast-food restaurants and public beach bathrooms are grotesque, sporting event bathrooms usually have beer spilt and toilet paper all over the floor, and theme parks usually have long lines with thousands of people’s germs spread daily. Another key point, there might not even be a bathroom available, such as at carnival. Is a mother expected to breastfeed in a porta potty? Point overlooked, no bathroom is appropriate to breastfeed a baby, and babies deserve to eat in sanitary places just like everyone
