The idea for a new revolutionary form of government arose, in which one could live free of persecution and live in safety. A government in which one could be the masters of their fate and not live under the power of others and for their lives to be truly theirs. So on July 4, 1776 a new nation was born. The founding fathers set forth a document called the Declaration of Independence this declared that a new nation was born of free men and would be ran for and by free men. Thomas Jefferson in this document made one of the most influential quotes ever that the nation was was built around. “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain rights; that are among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” But today in this nation one of the rights has …show more content…
At the University Medical Center Groningen in Netherlands reported twenty-two cases over 7 years where Euthanasia was carried out on infants. The Euthanized were put into three categories, each category was reflective of their condition. The first category were “Infants would die soon after birth even if all existing medical resources were employed to prolong their lives” Singer, Peter. The second group were “Infants who require intensive care, such as a respirator, to keep them alive, and for whom the expectations regarding their future is ‘very grim’ Singer, Peter. And the third category were “Infants with a ‘hopeless prognosis’ and who also are victims of ‘unbearable suffering’ like those with spina bifida” Singer, Peter. In all the situations the parents were consulted and the authorities notified. Infants in the first 2 groups doctors in consulting parents intensive care is withdrawn.
