There are many years of training that a surgeon must go through. To even be eligible to start a surgical residency, one must have 4 years of medical school, and after that the student would have to complete 3 to 8 years of a surgical residency. If a student does get into medical school there are many skills that one would need to posse to graduate. “No doctor will be able to make it through medical school without rigorous study and understanding of the concepts of the human body”, this quote, from education portal.com, is a prime example that one need more than good grades to get into and graduate medical school. There are many different types of surgeons. Hospitals have general, pediatric, plastic, heart, and brain surgeons. Many surgical students don’t know what kind of surgery they want to specialize in until they start medical school. Columbia University in New York has a college made for Physicians and surgeons. According to educationportal.com,” Columbia University’s college of Physicians and Surgeons ranks ninth on U.S. News and World Reports 2010 lists of medical schools with the best internal medicine programs”. Columbia University offers international leadership in educating physicians and surgeons in improving human health and health care overall. This school would be a great choice for any student that wants to pursue a surgical career. The reasons that I want to pursue this pursue this career are endless. First of all, a surgeon cares for their patients in a way that no one can explain. Surgeons must always have their patient’s best interests at heart in order to do their job efficiently. Knowing myself , I would be able to care for my patient in a way that a mom would protect her child, and I would always keep my patients
