To become a lifeguard one must go through extensive training, training includes important things like how to safely rescue someone and how to do CPR. If lifeguards are required to learn these things then why shouldn’t babysitters have to? A babysitting class teaches babysitters important things like CPR, the heimlich maneuver, and even little things like how to properly change a diaper or warm up milk. These things can make a difference in whether a child lives or dies in the hands of a babysitter. With these skills a babysitter would become much more qualified to watch a child. A teenager should know CPR in case there is ever an emergency or the heimlich maneuver in case a child ever chokes. Many tennagers never learn how to do CPR, which can put a child’s life in danger with nobody to help them. Parents are trusting someone with the life of their child, they should be able to trust someone who knows what they are doing because they passed a babysitting class. If a child chokes under a babysitter’s supervision then they should be able to do something instead of just standing there and not knowing what to do, if the babysitter has gone to a class then they could grab the child and help save it’s life. A babysitting class can help inform teenagerrs about how to do things like CPR and the heimlich maneuver. On the other hand, Babysitting classes can be expensive and babysitters might not even need to use CPR or the heimlich maneuver. Babysitting classes average at about $50 a class which can be pretty expensive for some families, why would people want to pay $50 for something you might not even need.
