An Animals Pain or a Good Time is What You Gain?
Imagine a life of being beat and confined… Wouldn’t you want to be set free? What if you could help this person or thing gain freedom? Confinement and abuse is the everyday life of an animal in the circus. Each year several animals are captured and forced to work in circus shows. People are realizing this is a growing problem and have decided to boycott animal circuses so they can become banned. Animal circuses should be banned because of the cruel animal training, poor animal welfare, and lack happiness in animals.
One of the biggest concerns for circus animals is the cruel training method they undergo. Ringling Brothers said their approach to animal training is “built on respect, trust, affection, and uncompromising care.” During the training process the animals are beaten. Animals in circuses are routinely whipped, beaten with medal long rod, shocked with electric pods, and even struck with clubs. Circus conductors/ trainers use bullhook also called the “hook” or “ankus” to beat and train animals. One major problem causing unhappiness in baby elephants is that they are separated from their mothers. Separating a baby elephant from their mother is the first step to training elephants, they call this the “break down stage” because the elephant’s spirits become broken so they have no will to fight. The animals in circuses are wild animals that roam freely and in the circuses they spend at least 15 hours a day chained up.
