Animal experiments, also known as animal testing “is any experiment carried out on an animal” (Ian, 2017). It includes researches about genetics, evolution biology, as well as applied research like drug testing, biomedical search. Animal test is in worldwide usage. It is estimated that “50 to 100 million vertebral animals used each year for scientific research” (Beiver & Celeste, 2016). Animals like cats, chimpanzees and mice are commonly used in experiments.
Some people said that it should be banned as it is demoralized to make the animal suffer from pain. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (2010) questions the need for and the legitimacy of animal testing, arguing that it is cruel to the animals.
