Did you know that 95% of animals used in experiments are not protected by the federal Animal Welfare Act? Being injected with unknown drug injections and, being locked inside barren cage with endless loneliness, are hopeless situation for animals in laboratories. Even right now at this moment, animals are used in laboratories for our benefits. Animal testing means that using animals to test products or food before they are sold in the market. According to Humane Society International, animals used in the labs are commonly subjected to force feeding and inhalation, food and water deprivation. Animals have life value like humans. Animals can suffer from pain like humans. Animals have right to be protected like humans. We don’t have any right to drive them into excruciating situation. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that more than 90,000 animals suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for them. On the other hand, some might argue that animal testing can save many lives of human which is more important than protecting animal’s right. Moreover, they argue that animal testing is regulated with laws that can protect animals. However, animal testing does not occur with agreement from animals. No human should take advantage of using animals who cannot speak for themselves. According to the statistics, 95% of animals used in experiments are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. The AWA does not cover rats, mice, fish and birds, which compose most of research animals. This clearly shows that animals are abandoned in the lab without any moral actions.
