Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse

Improved Essays
Activists manipulate many people to believe that any type of thing that pet owners do to their animals can be animal abuse. In fact, many citizens have taken the fact of animal cruelty too far and now will try and get as many people in trouble and arrested for doing things for your animals.

Animal violence can now give you a Class A Felony if you decide to harm an animal in any way. Many people have been wrongly convicted for hurting innocent animals, such as Jessica Swain. Many of this lady's neighbors had called the police and notified them of Swain's dog that was outside in the cold for too long. The problem with that is Swain's dog is a Husky that is supposed to be in the outside cold because its fur protected the dog from getting too frozen. Swain was then arrested for her "animal abuse", but later was released because her conviction was found to be not guilty of trying to inflict pain on the animal. Many innocent people are behind bars because of this new law against animal violence. (Radke, Amanda. "Should animal abuse be a Class A felony? And who defines." Beef Magazine. N.p., 08 Feb. 2016. Web. 30 Mar. 2017.)

With those four categories, consequently, do we know when to cross the line between taking care of the animal versus knowing when the animal is being neglected and needs to be taken out of the house? The answer to that is that we do not know! Activists try their hardest to inflict punishment among the people who are just trying to take care of their pets.

For many activists, it is hard to understand how inhumane it is to keep some animals as pets. “Animals,” as one activist says it, “are not here for our happiness.” While there is a substantial difference in how we raise animals (within terms of stray, wild, and domestic animals), there is no say in the animals life on how they should be treated. Finally, he seems to indirectly state some of the obvious logic that we are superior and it is only the way of life that we eat meat and research on animals to make life a little easier. It is possible that we can cure cancer or find a way to stop infestations, or even cause breeding to increase, which could increase the amount food…

Like any other crime, there needs to be a stop put to it. Even though we cannot put a stop to it entirely, we can help as many animals as we can by reporting an incident when we notice it. In order to do so, people need to know what signs to look for regarding animal abuse, and need to be informed of what we can do to stop it. One key warning sign is anyone who has undergone domestic violence. Studies show that 71% of women seeking shelter from an abusive partner reported that if they owned a pet, their partner had either threatened to or actually killed or abused one or more of their animals.…
