The Controversy on What Ankle Braces Really do for You
Most athletes have been through some sort of tragic injury; whether it was a broken bone, sprained joint, tearing your ACL, etc. Depending on the doctor you see for this injury, your rehab varies. Some doctors will give you a brace to wear while your injury is healing, some will not. So I propose this question: how does wearing a brace after you have recovered affect your joints?

Specifically, ACL injuries are the ones most concentrated on. ACL injuries often happen when one lands a jump or is cutting direction (Arendt et al., 1999). ACL surgery is much more expensive and takes a lot more time to heal than a sprained or broken ankle.
