Abortion is the right for a woman to terminate her pregnancy, granted by her right to privacy. This means (to most citizens) that she, and only she, has the right to choose to medically end the pregnancy, through the first trimester, after which life outside the womb is viable. Since the right was granted when our country was founded, it has gone through phases where it somewhat limited, then became incredibly limited, became more readily available, and it is now once again limited. Over time, the right of a woman to abortion has become more limited, though its importance in saving the lives of women and helping the victims of rape and incest has not declined. About 51% of pregnancies in the USA are unplanned, 21% of these result in an abortion. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by removing an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus. Abortion gives people the right to choose whether or not if they are prepared to have a child. Women deserve the rights to choose what to do with their body and what's inside of it. It is clear that the elimination of legal abortions will result in back alley abortions as well as put many more children into the foster care and adoption system.…

In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court had decided to legalize abortions; since then, there have been more than 58 million abortions performed in the United States. According to Snyder in his article, “every single day, more than 3,000 American babies are killed by abortion.” Why is it that the 9/11 tragedy, which killed almost 3000 people, is still a huge issue up until today, but when it comes to the issue of abortion, almost everyone is taking it for granted? People might think that the unborn babies feel no pain, but believe it or not, surgeon Robert P. N. Shearin claims that they can experience pain as early as 8 weeks old! The issue of abortion has always been one of the most controversial political issues in the United States.…

Abortion is a highly controversial subject in today 's community. The main issue of the subject is whether or not a fetus constitutes as a living thing before it is born. Those who oppose are pro-choice, those who agree, are pro-life. Those who are against abortion feel that since the fetus is a life, it is entitled to the rights as every other human being and that the mother of the child has no authority to take those rights away. Those who are for abortion believe that the mother has the right to do whatever she may please with her body, including the actions she commits when the mother is pregnant.…

People argue that the developing child should deserve to live, even if the mother is in a difficult situation. Some women cannot afford to keep and raise the child, or they are just not ready to take care of a child and start a family. They terminate their pregnancy by having an abortion.…

In the 1860’s, abortion was used as a form of birth control, until it was later outlawed because of the dangerous and unsanitary conditions. By 1965, all fifty states banned abortion, with some exceptions which varied by state: to save the life of the mother, in cases of rape or incest, or if the fetus was deformed. [2] But in 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that the right to an abortion was part of a woman's right to privacy [in the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973].[3] It wasn’t until recent times, that people saw that the act of abortion as unethical and depending on one’s religious beliefs, some see it as an attempt to destroy the works of God…

Yakira Sexton English 3 8/8/2016 Women’s Right to Abortion Even though Killing human life is wrong, abortion should be allowed because some people can't afford a baby and women should have the freedom to choose abortion. Some people have said that allowing women to get an abortion is like “unlawful killing of a human being” ( Kristi Burton Brown). While others have said that “a fetus is like a brain dead person with no self awareness or consciousness so it is actually dead”(News24). The side that I have chosen is that women should have the right to decide if abortion is the best thing for them or not.…

Over the last few decades, there has been much controversy over pro-life v pro-choice. Many believe that it is a woman’s right to do with her body what she will, including the choice to terminate the baby growing inside of her, but I disagree. Abortion is murder. Once a woman is pregnant, her body is no longer her own and the law should account for the fact that an unborn baby is as much a life as anyone else. Therefore, abortion should be monitored and only utilized under extreme circumstances.…

If there was a choice between saving one life or saving two lives, the majority of the population would choose to save two. In today 's culture, it seems as though taking the life of an unborn child is easy, and is not really a big deal. Although abortion is altogether terrible, the choice to make it illegal will only make it abundantly worse. While many people view abortion as taking away the life of one human, making it illegal could potentially be taking the life of two. Most people have been told and taught that life is a sacred gift.…

Abortion should be a part of a country’s contraception policy. People should plan their families and society must allow women to end unwanted pregnancies in order to deal with failures of birth control, cases of rape and cases of incest. Abortion should be legalized but discouraged. Legal, because it is a choice; discouraged because there are other more effective ways to prevent pregnancy than abortion. Abortion is all about allowing a woman to make her own decisions, in relation to her age, financial stability, relationship stability, and mental and physical capabilities.…
