Over the last few years, countless number of dogs and other animals (e.g. cats, mice, rabbits) are kept as pets but not for a long time, they are eventually abandoned by their owners for one reason or another. Abandoned pets end up either being sent into animal shelters funded by government or as stray dogs on the streets, suffering for the rest of their life without having the chance to have proper treatments (food and shelter) and to be loved by humans. In shelters, dogs (a big fraction of them consists of puppies) have 12 days to stay for adoption, after 12 days they will be euthanized because the room (and the money) in shelters are limited. People need to realize that the cause of this issue in the first place is how pet owners think of their pets as object, as something that you can throw away once you are bored with it. The greed of some selfish folks has caused a lot of tragedies for dogs. Disconnected from their families, being bullied, exposed to many kinds of diseases and harm. Government need to make a law concerning animal rights and punishment for those who abuse animals. People who do this kind of awful thing must face the consequences. They do not deserve to live normally and act as if nothing happened. Government can encourage citizens to adopt instead of buying pets from breeders because what breeders do is not good for dogs in any way possible. It needs to be explained clearly that animals are living things, they have families and feelings, they can feel pain, fear, and other emotions like what human can feel. It is inhuman for humans to treat pets like toys for entertainment means. There is a quote from Charles de Gaulle that said “The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs”. This quote is so agreeable if we refer “men” as those greedy people who only think about their own pleasure, as this kind of people does not even deserve to be
