Personal Statement: My Career Choices For A Career

Superior Essays
Have you wanted to do what you’re doing today for a career ever since you were a little kid? I know that’s not the case for me. My career choices have changed many different times throughout the years. I’m still not completely sure what I want to do with my life, but I’ve got a general idea and I believe the rest will work itself out.
The first job I can remember ever wanting was paleontologist. When I was in grade school I was obsessed with dinosaurs. The only books I would read were dinosaur books and I loved any movie that involved dinosaurs. I can remember pretending I was a velociraptor with my best friend Austin Stevens on the playground. We would run around the way we imagined dinosaurs would run and make weird roaring noises. Every

Also, I don’t have the best eye sight and I get motion sickness when I ride spinney fair rides. Once again, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I still liked the idea of flying and being in the military but my parents really wanted me to go into the medical field and be some type of doctor. I didn’t think that sounded too bad. I’d get good pay, I’d be helping people, doing something that matters, and I could do my traveling and exciting things on my days off. I started basing my college and high school class choices off what I needed to become a …show more content…
Sense I’ve been taking online classes throughout my high school career I’ll only have about a year left when I graduate high school. However, recently I’ve been talking to recruiters and it sounds like it would benefit me more to join now and ship off to boot camp right after I graduate. This is particularly hard on my mom. I’m the oldest kid out of my other two siblings so I’ll be the first to leave the house and she doesn’t like the thought of not being able to see me and that I could be shot at and put into life threatening positions. If I leave right out of high school I’ll miss our family vacations. I could miss my brother’s entire junior high and high school career and my sister’s graduation. I also have an amazing girlfriend that I’m in love with and she really doesn’t want me to leave. She has long tan legs, beautiful green eyes, a smile that lights up the room with the cutest dimples I’ve ever seen, she’s always up for anything, and we’re super comfortable around each other. I want to stay together when I leave and I hope I’ll be able to see her plenty when I’m out of basic military training. I don’t know exactly what will happen or where I’ll end up but I believe it’ll all work itself

All throughout my childhood, it seemed that whenever my parents introduced me to somebody---relative, stranger, teacher, playmate--- I would be bombarded by a series of inquiries, my newfound acquaintance seeking to evaluate me as an individual. However, out of all the questions my interrogator could have selected, one always seemed to be the most prevalent: What do you want to be when you grow up? The answer varied day by day: age 5-“a firefighter!” age 7-“a marine biologist!”…

“Strive for excellence!”, “Keep pushing yourself to the best of your ability.” , and “Have heart.” These are just a few of the many words of encouragement my dad would tell me as I grew up. At the time, I thought he was only referring to the sports I was playing. Whether it was gymnastics, softball, basketball, or volleyball, he was always pushing me to be the best I could be. I never dreamed these words would mean so much to me and ensue me to aspire my accomplishments thus far and the accomplishments I strive for in the future.…
