Why Minimum Wage Should Not Be Raised: Minimum wage is one of the most discussed topics in the U.S, whether or not it should be raised or lowered. It has drastically increases since it first started at 0.25 in 1938 (Politics of minimum wage) to now 7.25 in 2009 (Politics of minimum wage). Despite the poverty rates in America, minimum wage should not be changed, because it will just be an accessory to raising production cost. Raising minimum wage would not necessarily ruin the economy, but it would raise the production costs and the pay for every employee, not only would it raise production cost, but it would also lower employment rates and raise hours worked by one person. If the employee does not meet the requirement, then the company’s revenue…

One of the most frequently asked questions in our country seem to be should minimum wage be raised or should it be lowered or eliminated altogether, from where I stand minimum wage should be raised. Changes to the minimum wage would strengthen the economy and business, lift Americans out of poverty. Paying people a fair wage is a sign of respect and acknowledgement of the value of people contributions to the business. Increasing the minimum wage will lower the poverty level. While an increase in the minimum wage would raise the earnings of many workers and lift some families above the poverty line, some minimum-wage workers would remain poor.…

The minimum wage in the US is well below that of other advanced countries. The economist estimates that the minimum wage should be about twelve dollars an hour in the US based on our GDP. A higher minimum wage not only increases worker’s income, which is sorely needed to high demand and get the economy going. “Raising the minimum wage to $10.10 would create economic prosperity and put more money into the pockets of hard-working Americans” (“Reasons Raise minimum wage chart”). Raising the minimum wage to ten or more will help the workers to turn around and spend that money, which is a huge boost for the economy.…

The minimum wage is a controversial political issue. Americans’ views on the minimum wage law vary widely; some citizens believe that it should be abolished entirely, others think that the minimum amount should be expanded to match the rate of inflation. Raising the minimum wage does not come without its issues. However adjusting the minimum wage to match inflation, the United States would see an increase in economic activity, a reduction in poverty, and a reduction in race and gender inequalities.…

Also, minimum wage should not be able to feed a family.…

Though I concede that it would be affordable for people with a higher wage to support their families, I still maintain that we should not raise the minimum wage to $15. For example, college students will not be able to find a job easily, which will stop them from pursuing their career; many people will loose their jobs due to employers not being able to afford paying so much wage, it will not be a solution to lowering the poverty rate and it will create a bigger gap between the rich and poor. Although some might object that we should pay enough wages to increase their annual income, I would reply that we should keep the minimum wage as it is right now. This issue is important because people will still have a job with an income that they already receive, as many people earn good amount of money to help support the…
