A process that may end up making you feel like a disgrace to your family and your heritage. You start off thinking it'll be easy because your ancestors have been making it for practically centuries. You think, "Hey if it got this far that it can't possibly end with me." But then it does. You start off with the best intentions, but get doomed from the start with your bad recipes and complete lack of knowledge. But you persevere and keep going with it until you get food poisoning from it. So, you may not be able to successfully make pannukakku, even if its "practically in your blood", but you're not too shabby at making cakes, cookies, and some other select things. While it's not the dish that will make you feel more connected to your Finnish heritage, it's still something you can pass down for future generations. A different dish that future generations may make to feel closer to you. Who knows, maybe one day you will find a complete pannukakku recipe, successfully bake it, and teach future
