The Need for Animal Research
A woman gets up early in the morning. She enters her bathroom, takes a shower, puts on makeup, eats breakfast, takes her medication, and heads out the door to her job. In this scenario, the woman uses an assortment of goods, all of which have been deemed appropriate for human use. People go through life using various products on a daily basis. In this case, the woman washed her body with soap, applied a red lipstick, used an oil substitute to cook with, and took a pill. All of these items contain different chemicals that in excess, has the possibility to harm a living being. However, before these products are distributed, departments like the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) check products and see if they pass the regulations to

With this information, a question arises, if these products are deemed safe, how were they tested before being presented to the FDA? In many cases, these products go through various test on beings that are similar to humans, animals. These animals are subjected to test that applies certain levels of chemicals on the skin, injects them with toxins, exposes them to radiation that alters DNA codes, and numerous other test to advance research for the betterment of human life. Yet, from these actions, another question arises. Do we as humans, have the right to subject these creatures to these tests that we ourselves refuse to perform on ourselves? In my opinion animals are necessary for research because animals have made valuable contributions to cures and treatments, there are no adequate alternative to testing on an entire body system, animals are very similar to humans, it is unethical to test on humans, animals benefit from the results, and when experiments are conducted on animals
