Persuasive Essay Against Abortion

Since 1973, the action of killing innocent babies has been legal. This action, known as abortion, is a problem. It causes many injuries and destroys helpless lives. People should become more active in becoming a part of the solution and stop supporting the legalization of abortion. Abortion should not be legal because it is physically damaging, mentally damaging, and a form of killing a baby. Abortion is usually portrayed as very beneficial to women; however, this portrayal is inaccurate. The purpose of an abortion, to get rid of a baby, is presented as an option to all women that will free them and make their lives easier, but the opposite occurs. Instead of helping women, abortion can leave permanent damage to a woman’s body. Removing the fetus from the body requires skills and tools that are not always available. Sometimes a doctor who is performing a surgery may not have a lot of experience in performing one and will not know what to do in emergency situations. In other cases, the surgery does not go the way it’s predicted to go. The end results of cases like these lead to scarring and can cause excessive bleeding. For all abortions, surgery leads to an increased risk of cervical cancer and pregnancy failure in the future because the tissues in the uterus become damaged. …show more content…
Women who have the option of abortion often feel pressured into it by friends and relatives, and later regret the choice. Their regrets and experiences last for the rest of their lives. Abortions cause women to regret getting rid of their baby, even though, at first, they wanted to prevent the baby from being born. They do not realize the permanence of killing a baby until it is already done. In some cases, women become so distressed and ashamed that it leads them to experience depression, anxiety, and anger.
