Is It Really Worth It?

The sound of breaking glass, crumpling of metal, car alarms, and possibly the snap of a bone. Being jerked back and forth with the last memory was texting mom "Love you". Might be the last she'll ever get that message because of the choice to text and drive. Texting is one of the most dangerous things you can do while in a car. "3,200 teens die every year because they were texting and driving" (Teen Die). When it could have waited until teens can get out of the car.

Teen and young adults drivers are the leading cause of crashes due to texting. "Fifty percent of sixteen to nineteen year olds text and drive. Just talking on the phone increases accidents" (Avoid). That is a lot of people when thought about and a lot of seconds where teens eyes are not completely focused on the road. Texting and driving is a really serious thing and a lot of people are shocked that teens continue to do it everyday. "A texter is more impaired than drunk drivers with an with blood-alcohol levels exceeding 0.08 " (Study). That means that teen texters are more prone to recks than a late night shot fest at the bar. Teen texters are "... eighteen percent slower at breaking and seventeen percent longer to regain speed " (Study). Accidents are dangerous but at the same time there costly. Teens don't understand that moms and dads have to pay for all damage not only to the teenager but the car and possibly the other person involved in the crash.
