Last minute makeovers for photo shoots, bridesmaids hair and makeup, talent shows, musicals, church events, prom updos. You name it, I’ve braided it, curled it, dyed it, cut it, styled it, moussed it, sprayed it… All of this is just a beginning glimpse into the world of a hair and makeup artist, which is exactly what I plan on becoming. Throughout my life I’ve always been that go-to-friend for last minute hair, makeup or wardrobe malfunctions. “Naomi can you come over and do my hair for a photoshoot?” or “Naomi my sister is getting married and I am the Maid of Honor, would you mind doing my hair and makeup for me?” Events like these have helped my driving and growing passion for this career. My dream clientele would be New York models co. or a hair and makeup artists for Broadway. Movies always have a hair and makeup crew as a part of their backstage cast, which would also be a dream job. Some of the personal qualities that this job requires from you to be is a people person. “You will be working with people 24/7 around the clock, and those people all have a verea of personalities and moods. So be ready… A normal day at the “office” can veary with this career. It depends on who you’re working for or with”(Shmoop 1). The big question with jobs these days is “how much does it pay, and can I make a living off of it?” Luckily according to several dependable resources like this one, Bureau of Labor Statistics , the average pay for a hair and makeup artist in New York pays from $22.00 an hour to $47.00 an hour. Again it really depends on the clientele. To have a family and work this job would be tough. You would be required to travel to different settings for different occasions or events. If you are a Personal Stylist then you would travel with your client wherever he or she may go. Makeup and hair crew for a movie could require you to work for several months at a time on and off the set, so kids may be out of the picture for a …show more content…
I love beauty and I love fashion, put the two together and you can create something new and exciting! Hard work doesn’t scare me infact I consider it a challenge. The eventual benefits to this career include more than money, you gain so many close friends. Being a hair and makeup artists you have to be up close and personal. Having your clients trust is crucial. Personality can either be your best friend or kill you in this occupation. Hopefully I don’t have to worry about that too much. One thing in life that usually catches us off guard is change and God had a way of spicing up plans to what he has in mind. So am I 100% sure that this is what I’m going to end up doing, no but it is good to have a general idea or
