Parents often have to leave work early to attend to their children, expending unnecessary time in order to accomplish those tasks. Why should parents stress about leaving work early or finding babysitters? If only there was something the government could do to help out. The government should provide day cares for working parents. Day care costs for families differ depending on how many children they have and how old they are. The average cost for daycares range anywhere from about $3,000 to almost $20,000 a year. For infants and four year olds, day care is the highest family expense. In 2013, it cost almost $10,000 a year for an infant. The amount of money parents pay for day cares can almost fully pay an in-state tuition for some colleges. Lower income families struggle the hardest for day care expenses. Not all mothers, or fathers, can stay at home with their children. About 16% of lower income families worry on how they can pay for the care of their children.
