Human Trafficking: The Secret Trade
Human trafficking is becoming more and more infamous. It's on the news, in the media, and because of this it feels unreal. Everyone knows what it is and, for the most part, how it's done. But because of the way it's shown to the public, it seems too terrible to be real. On top of that, sex workers are typically looked down upon. What people don’t normally know, is that most prostitutes, strippers, brothel workers etc. are not doing this by choice. Even children are introduced into human trafficking. When it comes to human trafficking, it's hard to notice. Criminal justice workers even have a hard time picking up on what's going on. More and more technology is being made to help in finding and cracking down on human trafficking. So many things attribute to it being such a hidden and popular crime. The way they live could be a give away things like them not receiving a lot of money for their work or they may not even be paid, they are under 18 and provide commercial sex acts, they are in the commercial sex industry and answer to a pimp or manager.
