I am a great team worker a hard worker who is passionate about what I do. I grew up in a family of 5, with an older sister and a younger brother; I had many opportunities to work with a team. Thus, I have known the importance of hearing other people’s opinions and sharing responsibilities since I was young. In my high school, I have been involved as a member of S.H.O.W (Students Helping Our World). In the club S.H.O.W, I was always engaged in the conversation. This was possible, because of my commitment and hard work. I consistently researched about world issues and took notes before the weekly meetings. This presented me with a fulfilling emotion and life satisfaction. Additionally, I gained confidence in what I could do by seeing them grow. Therefore, the experience of volunteering in an elderly care home was precious, because I learned the significance of helping others.
3. How did you become interested in the cause? Explain your reason(s) for applying as a ____________________ (desired position) to participate in HanVoice at Queen’s University.
I was born in South Korea, so I was aware of North Korea since I was very little. However, I became very interested in the causes of North Korea when I wrote an essay in grade 10. I remember researching about North Korea from many sites, because I could not believe the awful occurrences that was happening – manipulation and lack of freedom. The president is always considered right; they have no say. They have many concentration camp with approximately more than 100 000 people. Many citizens in North Korea think eating 3 meals per day is only for luxurious families. Moreover, they do not have the freedom to choose their occupations. Once you’re assigned a job from government, it is your lifelong job. All these problems regarding to human rights made me become very irritated and aware of North
