The group was about to find out how brutally honest the phrase 'looks can be deceiving' was. Simon started to notice something. The molotovs were great at setting them on fire, obviously. However, fire alone can't kill what is already dead, at least not from a molotov. Much to his chagrin, he found out the hard way that fire only really slows them down. They do a great job at throwing people around and causing internal bleeding but nothing much else. Simon would've been better off making fragmentation bombs. They send out accelerated pieces of metal, usually bomb casings or in the case of homemade bombs nails, ball bearings and needles. These pieces of metal act like bullets and would've done more damage to the brain assuming some metal pieces penetrated the skull. That's what makes zombies terrifying. They don't need their internal organs, or blood or food to live. They are like magical beings that never give up and never surrender.
