Yes they might be crying just to be comforted, if there basic needs are met. Can you imagine, if your husband wouldn't come give you a hug after a hard day? Eventually after being turned down you are going to feel unwanted and confused. Brittany Nitzband stated, " my nine month old has learned patience" I disagree with that. I am not saying she is a bad mom because letting them cry doesn't make you a bad parent; however, it does teach them that they have to rely on themselves and their mom won't always be there. In 18 years they are going to be grown and not need their moms like they do when they are small. Why would you not nuture that need when they are small and let them outgrow their need for you and spread their wings as adults? Their is so many right and wrong things you can do as a parent. It's hard and not always easy to figure out what should be done next. I personally feel that a baby should be loved and nurtured until they seek independence on their own. Being pushed to indepenece to soon, makes me nervous it could have an affect with the bond between mom and baby. This will be sadly be a timeless
