Persuasive Elements In Twelve Angry Men

There were many different effective persuasive elements in Twelve Angry Men. Within this group are many very different people, some of them which are leaders and some are not. Juror #8 was the most influential, intelligent of them all in the trial, he was the one that would question everything he heard, the had the mind that would take a little piece of evidence and turn it around on the other jurors. The persuasive elements juror eight used is logical appeal, which is using facts, figures, numbers, tangible evidence, charts, graphs, and statistics to persuade, juror eight accomplished a not guilty verdict with all this evidence that many people would consider hard evidence and picked it apart proving it wrong.

The boy claimed that he lost the blade the same night of the murder, but when they looked into the stab wounds, they found that the blade was positioned awkwardly and definitely not how an experienced knife fighter would stab somebody. The jurors collected more evidence by going to the shop where the boy bought the switchblade, the story owner said that the blade was very rare and hard to find. Juror eight then pulled out of his pocket the same exact model and said “Look at this. (EIGHT closes the knife, flicks it open, and changed the position on the knife so that he can stab overhanded.) Doesn’t it seem like an awkward 3way to handle a knife?”(Rose 55) again proving that the boy most likely did not stab his father, he didn't use his own skills and the killer could have been anyone, juror eight found the switchblade just walking
