Persuasive Driving High School

As a student going into her third year of schooling in high school, I’ve had time to examine the common mindsets amongst my upperclassmen peers. One important goal amongst them all was to get a car before or after graduation. They all seemed to advise that in order for me to have a sweet senior year, I must learn how to drive early. As wise as I am I took their advice and decided to start driving school this summer. I recently finished driving school and can genuinely say I can’t recall off head everything I learned. However, there are two key things my instructor told me that I will remember forever. One of them is that car accidents have the highest death toll amongst teenagers and the other is that people go through the GLS program (Graduating License System) and act like they never went through it. Both of these important phrases continued to stick in my head even after the class was over. Not because …show more content…
Excuse my slang but no offense to officials who regulate guns, but the driver’s education industry has got you beat. There’s rarely a place out in the U.S that you can find a shop that operates a fake driving school that will send your information to a fake MVA so the person can get a fake driver’s license. Holding a gun for the first time is more risky than holding a steering wheel for the first time. At least with the steering wheel you have a whole process to go through and many things can effect whether it works or not. You have to start the engine first, then make sure you have gas in order for it to move, then figure out how to take the breaks off and change your gear. With a gun, all it takes is one bullet and one slight pull or accidental tug in order for it to turn fatal. Since there is more ease of risk with a gun there should be a deeper amount of restrictions in order to obtain one. If it’s just as easy to access a gun as it is to get a driver’s license than there’s a bigger problem than I

Nevertheless, the gun laws are not all the same in all the States in America. For instance, in North Carolina, gun laws state a variety of limitations on acquiring or buying a firearm. The laws are specific on who can buy and be issued with a gun and who can possess a gun. There exist standards that govern the issuance of guns such as; the person been given the gun has not been convicted before or else if they have, they have been pardoned, the individual is not a fugitive, he is of sound mind among other conditions (Spitzer). These gun laws, like the ones stipulated in North Carolina, are strict and efficient, but not strict enough.…

A major argument against gun laws is that guns don’t kill people, people kill people. I find this ridiculous of course it is true that by itself a gun cannot hurt anyone. The purpose of these laws is to keep it out of the hands of the people that kill people. If you have nothing to hide and are not planning anything nefarious then you would still be able to own a gun, you would just have to abide by the laws and regulation while purchasing and handling the…

Gun control has been a hot topic in the United States since the time Roosevelt was in office. Starting with Roosevelt where there were only two federal statutes, and going to the Clinton era and having two decades worth of policy and laws on firearms, firearm laws have changed drastically. But with Congress stepping in and getting help from state legislature, all the goals of having a gun safe world is being destroyed and being limited to three realistic goals such as reducing possession by high-risk people, restricting access from certain people, and using guns to stop top level offenders. Federal level firearm policy hasn’t really changed since the Brady Law and assault weapon restrictions in 1993. But none of these laws have changed the…

    Essay On Driving Age

    • 1017 Words
    • 5 Pages

Most teenage drivers are involved in car crashes every year, and more are killed than in any other age group. Even to this day, 6,000 teens die in accidents annually—more than fifteen a day (Triplett 1). These alarming statistics prove that receiving a driver’s license at the age of sixteen is merely too young. Teenagers are incompetent about being on the road, which increases the chances of putting others at risk because they have not developed a strong level of maturity and experience. The driving age among teens should be increased because facts prove that teenagers cannot handle the physiological and physical challenges that approach them on the road.…

By Federal law gaining legal access to a gun is a process simpler than a refinancing a family home in the United States. Our government states that under federal law a licensed gun dealer cannot sell any handguns and/or ammo to anyone that is under 21 and can’t sell long arms (Shot guns/ rifles) to anyone under the age of 18 but an unlicensed dealer cannot sell handguns to anyone under 18 and can sell long arms to anyone regardless of age. Everyday there are up to nine deaths under the age of 21 daily, leaving us with an issue that has been here for such a long time but has been continuously ignored and overlooked because most people go about finding solutions for guns in extreme ways. It’s not about getting rid of guns but controlling how…

That exhilarating feeling of freedom you feel while riding a motorcycle is due to factors that also make riding dangerous. Your tremendous acceleration is due to your light weight compared to your engine power. This means you suffer the most when colliding with a two ton car. Your exceptional maneuverability is due to your two wheels. This makes you less stable than four-wheeled vehicles, and more likely to get in an accident when hitting potholes or small road debris.…

Everyone has an opinion on whether or not there should be trust placed in youths. Would the trust be extended to something that everyone does everyday? As children transition into adulthood, they learn how to drive and start commuting themselves to their errands. In America, the legal driving age is 16, but some people believe that the age should be raised. However, the driving age should not be raised to 18 because that will cause drivers to be less experienced behind the wheel and will push back the ability to get a job.…

Does hitting 16 make you a great driver? Well I'm saying that if you more experienced than you will be a better driver than a 18 year old who had just got their licence. “Turning 16 does not instantly make someone a safer driver,” says Peter Kissinger they talk about experience being the main key of being a better driver, if they were to start learning how to drive at 14 and were on the roads by 16 they would be better than a 16 year old who just got their licence because they turn 16. ¨The second study examined crash rates in New Jersey, which has a minimum age of 17 for unsupervised driving and is the only state in the country to have a comprehensive GDL program for all new drivers up to age 21.…
