Every year around 1 million animals is abused or killed in connection with domestic violence. There will always be a law saying “don’t do this to them or you will get arrested.” But what if they always have abused that poor animal? Animals should also have right just as humans. If bring up the penalty for animal abusement will people learn? Would it teach them not to harm them? America always talks about how important animals are, but then there are people who always says that animals are just a walking meat. People who only sees them as walking meat are once who don't know or unable to take care of them. They get so stress and take it out on them. But the law on animal cruelty isn’t much of a punishment to scare someone or make them think twice on what to do. But if they bring up the punishment will they learn? Would being punished teach them a lesson, because paying a certain amount of money isn’t something that would teach you a lesson.

If someone abuses an animal once, they will go back to abusing them again like its a game or habit. The law in America is if an owner who abused their pet will have to pay 1000$ or serve one year. If the pet is badly injured or even killed they will be serving 5 years or you’ll have to pay 5000$ or more depending on the state. “Farmed animals are unprotected by most state criminal anti-cruelty laws and even omitted from the federal Animal Welfare Act.” (Animal legal defense fund) The only place that cannot be protected are slaughterhouses, there is no penalty on them due to it being company to give supermarkets meat. Animals who are tested on are not protected either, they are kept hidden in the public eye, so they too do not have any penalty, unless the state or schools don’t allow
