Personification In All Summer In A Day

The short story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury uses symbolism and Personification to express Margot along with her classmates emotions. Venus can be similar to the children in her class. Although you can argue its similes and metaphors that’s not the case. The craft is more of vivid illustration, nothing that has a deeper meaning. Personification is used to bring the symbolism to life by give the objects human characteristics. People can infer this because of the way the gave life to it. The short story “All Summer in a day” really paves the path for symbolism and personification. Next Margot has a connection to the sun. You can infer from the the text that she was a bright happy girl on Earth living Ohio. The sun shining bright and bold on earth like her personality. This really is a prime example of symbolism. But then the dark rainy clouds of Venus washes her personality away, and covers her excitement. The Planet Venus can also be like the children, clouding Margot’s life furthermore always in disbelief of her when she presents about the sun. For example in the story it says “ She was a very fragile girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years”. She is just depressed. We talked about how symbolism and its deeper meaning, the children and Magot are like the planet Venus also the Sun. How she is like the sun suffocated from being her true self. Although other readers have other points such as similes and metaphors they can’t provide enough detail to further their explanation rather it's just fluff. Personification can arguably be the best chunk of detail in the story. It gives more connectable author's craft but also intermixes with symbolism.
