The first study from "How Do Personality, Synchronous Media, and Discussion Topic Affect Participation?" by Ina Blau and Azy Barak is to examine the willingness of people with different careers and education backgrounds to participate in various social situations. Furthermore, this study would also exam people's prospects on social interactions.
The participants in this study including males and females with different level of education, such as high-school graduates, professional post-school training, held BA degrees and held master or doctoral degrees. Their age range was 18-76 with a median 29. Based on the survey report, 85.7% of them use general internet on a daily basis. Most people prefer to use personal chat rather than the chat room
