Research has been done showing that Type I’s have higher self esteem, better interpersonal relationships than their type X counterparts. People who are extrinsically motivated and who’s aspirations are more oriented around money, fame, and fortune are likely to have poorer psychological health, and lower self confidence. I believe that someone who is Type I would be extremely successful in a health care related field. In health care, part of the job is wanting to help people. Type I’s would be motivated by the satisfaction they get from helping a patient and wouldn’t care as much about the money as long as they were making enough to live. On the other hand, I feel that Type X’s would do very well in the real estate industry. When working in real estate, you are only paid on commission, and as Type X people are mainly motivated by money, I think this would push them to work harder and sell more homes. Type A people would most likely be more successful in leadership roles and entrepreneurship since Type A’s are typically self-starters. Moreover, Type B’s would do well in a sales job, or promotion and marketing of a product or service, since they are ordinarily more talkative, persuasive, and better at forming relationships.
