According to Mayer & Salvoes (1997) Emotional Intelligence is to master emotions in respect of perceiving, accessing and generating them. It also covers the aspects of reflectively regulating emotions to enhance intellectual and emotional growth. The concept of emotional intelligence was originally given by an American psychologist Daniel Goleman in 1995. Emotional intelligence is the ability to know your emotions and of others too. Emotional intelligence is different from intellectual intelligence because it can be learnt and acquired while intellectual intelligence is acquired. Emotional intelligence can be learnt at any point in time along with social skills. They both work together in shaping the personality. Learning about emotional intelligence doesn’t mean that you will apply it in daily life. We usually don’t know how to manage thing when we become stressed and due to which we are not able to perform other tasks too. If we really want to change our behavior we need to learn how to work under pressure and how to manage and overcome it. The people who are good at regulating themselves are better in controlling their anger. Before making any kind of decisions they think in every perspective to get better results.
