I believe honesty, commitment, and respect go hand in hand when it comes to my personal values. As a leader, I always give the benefit of doubt to a Soldier the first time. We as Soldiers make mistakes; just make sure, if you make a mistake, you own up to it and learn from it. I believe you must have a strong unit cohesion; you must be honest with me at all times, good or bad. As a leader, I need every Soldiers commitment so we can accomplish the mission. Most of all, I expect everyone that I lead, to respect each other and trust in me as a leader.

The first thing I thought of to answer this question is my time in the military. In the Air Force, we are taught to follow three core values. These three core values are integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do. I try to especially follow the last one, excellence in all we do, in most aspects of my life. I have tried to follow this so far in my time at CCU with my previous classes, and plan to continue as I complete my last few classes towards my degree in Information Systems Management.…

When I was tasked to write my philosophy, I pondered on what I should discuss. As I thought back on what means the most to me and how I will lead my troops, I had to refer to my personal mission statement that I wrote for myself after I became a parent many years ago: Through the test and trials of life; endure, stay focused, stay encouraged and be reminded that joy comes in the morning. Never forget the morals and values that were instilled in me. Make sure my children possess and maintain those very values. To learn from the past but not live in it.…
