Personal Summary: Varsity Track And Field Team

Decent Essays
I have also been a member of my school’s Varsity Track and Field team for the past 4 years. I feel as though my experiences a student-athlete as allowed me to be self and team motivated, demonstrated my ability to multitask, enhanced my time management skills, and has helped me better understand the values of teamwork and dedication.

This past summer I was intrigued to me to see a team start and succeed in the first year as the Miners did, in a place where two other teams have come in and left in the past. I have attached my resume for your review. Please contact me at your convenience. Thank you for your consideration.

Lancaster is a redshirt senior and a huge leader for this Wildcat team. This season he was voted by his teammates to wear #1, which represents “a man who embodies the values and character of the Northwestern football family” according to head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Lancaster is an athletic freak in the weight room but that has not translated to the field yet. Lancaster is consistently double teamed, but defensive linemen need to prove in college they can adopt and beat the double team and that is something Lancaster has not been able to prove yet. Lancaster also lacks the lateral quickness needed to be a successful lineman at the next level.…

When the Philadelphia Eagles completed the off season trade with the St. Louis Rams for the services of quarterback Sam Bradford, team officials knew they were taking a risk. Bradford was coming off of two injuries, one that prematurely ended his 2013 season and a second one sustained during the 2014 preseason, which left him on the sidelines throughout the entire season. With Bradford slated to be the starting quarterback with an inconsistent Mark Sanchez as his backup, Head Coach Chip Kelly knew he needed a third quarterback on the roster as insurance. After taking a look at Tim Tebow during the preseason, Kelly decided the controversial Tebow wasn't the answer. Instead, he ask team owner Jeffrey Lurie to sign Stephen Morris off waivers…

As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. As well as my passion for sports, I grew into my passion for service; service for others and for my school, partaking in clubs and community service activities, each endeavor playing a role in the development of my abilities and expansion of my potential…

To Play or Not To Play???“Put Me in Coach” When people reminisce about their high school years, fond memories of being at the height of fitness, spending countless hours with teammates, and playing in the “Big Game” are often treasured. However, some students at St. Anthony High School are choosing not to be involved in the athletic program for social and academic reasons. As a result, many are missing out on one of the most important aspects of their high school career. Although some believe that participation in high school athletics is a roadblock towards academic success and a satisfying social life, students should play at least one sport throughout high school because they will develop critical life skills and increase their physical…

I agree Sara, great team is where the coaches are able to foster an environment that all the teammates to grow, learn, and work together. One simple solution could have been Coach P stepping up and selecting a leader or two, and letting the team know regardless of their personal biases, in order to be on the Varsity team, they will have to get rid of their ego's and come together collectively for the greater good of the team. I understand Coach P wanted to empower his crew members to figure it our themselves, but at what point do you be the coach and create a solution for the problem. I believe he waited too late to try to make adjustments, being 4 days away from nationals, it's hard to change the dynamics up of the team and expect them to…

I agree with you. Previously living in Phoenix, this was something I saw happen with the local high school cross country team each year when they would start training for the next school year during the hot Phoenix summer. You could always pick out those kids that were either freshman and new to running several miles or were out of shape. After a few weeks of training no one was getting sick any…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

I began my first year of high school a tiny, easily overlooked girl with maybe two friends on a good day and almost no hobbies. My routine of attending school, going home, doing my work, and going to sleep simply wasn’t cutting it. With the reaction time close to that of a garden slug and the coordination of a newborn giraffe, it was clear to me that taking up a sport would only end in my own mortification and probable injury. However, after a bit of research, I found the perfect option: cross country. No contact, complicated game plans, or heavy equipment required.…

To be involved in a sport and more importantly a team has meant more to me than I would have ever guessed. Initially joining the sport I thought it would be fun to spend time with my preexisting friends but later on I found myself caring for people I had not known before. Being in a group that you work together and share the same goals with creates a bond that differs from peers that you sit with in a class. It is really nice to be in a group that you care for, knowing that they in turn care for you as well is very humbling and it is a great feeling to…

Introduction I don’t think being on a sports team in high school is a distraction in life. I think being on a sports team actually makes you a better person and even better in life. I feel like you can use skills you learn from being on a team like discipline, being a hard worker, and working well with others in your everyday lifestyle. As a athlete myself I believe that you are at your full potential when you can use skills you learn from being on a team in your real life. Just because you’re on a team doesnt mean you don’t have to deal with the real world and real life situations.…
