My personal strengths was that I was very good at communicating and interacting with children, staff, parents and other professionals. I was also very attentive to the children’s needs. I am mild and coherent when communicating with children. I am also empathetic and a hard working individual who is capable of achieving to a high standard. I was required to be very punctual and dedicated, this enabled me to develop important skills in professionalism which I would then transfer onto a Childhood and Youth degree. When I moved onto working with the pre-school children I was able to be more advanced and mature in regards to verbal and non-verbal communication. Mind mapping also helps you to remember useful information that you can review quickly. Although I found myself being quite repetitive and incoherent when I used this method. I have developed the skill of written and verbal communication for planning when observing and assessing children. I have also worked as part of a team within the setting as I always ensure to listen, share ideas, problem solve, recognise and use each other’s

Planning is also very important within the foundation phase as all activities and areas within the setting need to be planned in order to challenge and promote children's holistic development. The activities must be enjoyable but also suitable for the children’s individual abilities in order for them to stay focused and learning new things. It is important that when planning practitioners put the child center to the planning and ensure that the children have a good balance between child initiative play and adult led activities. Practitioners may use the quality and environment triangle, this is a clear model and can be extremely useful for childcare practitioners when creating a balanced curriculum within their setting, which is appropriate to the age and stage of development for children’s play and learning. ‘As a professional the planning process is a good way of keeping you aware of all aspects of development and ensuring that some potential areas of learning do no push aside others’ (Lindon, J. 2011, P1)…

Having Consistency and Responsibility I believe fit right into this life choice and in my opinion if you don't have Belief in what you're doing you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. I utilize Consistency on a daily basis as a Police Officer. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” On a website comprised of many short yet moving quotes, this one quote in particular was the most tangible to me in the entire collection.
