Personal Narrative: My First Day At Handcock High School

Great Essays
I started getting close to this guy in my new school, his name was Mark. The school was named Handcock High School. The school was like a small college campus, a nice one story red brick buildings. Handcock High is big when I got out of one class and my other class is in the next building, if I didn 't go straight there I would be late. Mark was sweet and he was a senior and I was a sophomore in high school. He really liked me and I really liked him. So he invited me to a house party. It was a house party that the high school kids go to like every weekend. Mark was telling me how the party was. He said, "the high school students party all night until the next morning and the students drink and party until they pass out." He said, "All …show more content…
The house was so nice. I couldn 't really see where we were. The house looked like a beach house from the outside, all the glass windows. I instantly know that this wasn 't a good idea. My hands were shaking, and I had goosebumps all over my arms and legs. "What if my mom finds out." I, though. They had so many people there. I saw people going in and out of the house. I looked inside and saw people sitting on a dark couch drinking and talking. People were hanging in the kitchen. People were going in the large refrigerator getting beer and drinks. The look on people faces was that of sheer fun. Mark found me and he had a drink for me ready to party. We started dancing, drinking, and playing games. It was the most fun I had ever had. We were having so much fun I didn 't look at the time. Time was passing. Next thing I see is the sun coming up. I panicked. I yelled, "Zemkia we have to go!" My mom was picking me up at 8am; it was 7:15am. My heart started rising. We got in the car and started speeding. We made it to Zemkia house at 7:30am. I jumped in her window like I was in the Olympics. I just started packing and changing my clothes. Then I hear my mom voice. "Arrian," she said, "let 's go." I opened up Zemkia bedroom door. Walking out I got really dizzy and light headed next thing I know I threw up all on my mom and the

The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. This year, with the help of other students and advisors, a new club made it into the ranks of the diverse sea of clubs and groups that already exist.…

At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life.
