Personal Stereotypes

I grew up in a Hispanic, low income, single mother household where the likeliness that I was going to attend college was extremely low. The typical stereotype that I grew up believing was that I was going to get pregnant during high school. Having people think this of me both angered and hurt me, but I did not let this stereotype interfere with my dreams. At the young age of 13, I decided that I was going to break free from the stereotypes emplaced on me and that I was going to go to college and make a difference in my life, my families and my communities. I strive to be an example for the Latino community that we can succeed in this country and that we are not the stereotypes that are emplaced on us.
