Personal Statements During My College Career

Improved Essays
A distinguished student is one that places his or hers studies first and foremost. One that does not procrastinate when it comes to completing their assignments and makes sure they are finished, reviewed and turned in before the due date. One that sets goals for their self and has the determination and drive to reach those goals. During my college career I have used the above three statements to give myself the will power to accelerate through my college career. It was my pure determination to make the most out of my studies and use them in the Safety Profession field. Having this drive and will power helped me to always strive for an A in all my courses. Though I did not always make the A, I know in my mind, that I performed at my absolute best during each and every course. I could not have done this without the support of my wife, children, mother, father, sister and brother, along with many friends and instructors. …show more content…
This was all done while working anywhere from forty hours a week to sometimes seventy hours. In order to reach the distinguished student role you must always keep a “can do attitude”. Having this mindset helped push me through those long nights or those weekends where I wanted to take a break from school work and enjoy my hobbies. As a student one has to force their self to sit down at their desk or on the coach and put their hobbies on hold. This was one of the hardest things I had to do putting my family and friends second to my education, but I knew it was something that had to be

As a Family Advocate, I work with families and children from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It is important to focus on building relationships of mutual trust, confidence, and respect for diverse families. After completing the observations, the anti-bias curriculum is a must to reflect the culture and background of the families and children in the program. Many families I work with are low income. My goal is to create an environment where children and families from different backgrounds can feel comfortable and belonging.…

The beginning of my undergraduate career is not impressive and not worthy of holding the title of a PA. A student’s GPA is important in order to be accepted into a medical school or any other healthcare professional school, I was well aware of that, but I did not hold the maturity to excel in my academia. However, I’m grateful to realize my mistake halfway through my semester and searched for help to turn the downhill route my grades were taking. In attempts to remedy my subpar GPA, I added a second major to help with my overall GPA; however, I did not choose a major that would be considered easy, but I chose Psychology, a major that is challenging. It soon became evident of my success in throughout the rest of my undergraduate years.…

If I could go back to the past and talk to myself in September 2013, I would tell my younger self to be prepared for the next four years. I would advise myself to plan out my work and actually do assignments ahead of time instead of putting them off until nine o'clock the night before they were due. I would tell myself to not take honors trig because it was too much to handle combined with all of my other classes, as well as saying, that just because it was recommended to take a class, it doesn't mean I should've. I would recommend actually trying to do the workouts for field hockey before preseason. That way it wouldn't be so bad in the future.…

In May 2017, I will be graduating from Morgan State University (MSU) with a B.S. in Information Science and Systems and a concentration in Accounting. It is my aspiration to pursue a multifaceted career as a Technical Business Analyst and Consultant as well as to expand my knowledge by obtaining my Masters degree and Ph.D. in Information Systems with Accounting as a discipline. My passion for Information Systems developed seven years ago as I attentively sat in computer class and became intrigued with each aspect of the content. It was then that I knew I wanted to be an expert within the technology arena. The desire to work in this capacity has only grown each time I am faced with the tech questions of “how do you …?” or “what’s wrong with my computer?”…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

How It Relates To "The Real World": Often times in life, people are faced with choice of speaking up or staying silent. My generation is the last generation that will be able to hear firsthand stories about WWII, so it is our duty to continue to speak out to future generations. Another aspect of this is thinking about other social issues. We so often talk about preventing tragedies like the Holocaust from happening again, but these tragedies have never stopped. Which leads to the question of what I should do and how speaking out could positively or negatively effect my future.…

My Life Ever since I was little my parents have always called me a leader. I didn’t believe it until I was in junior high and became the quarterback of the football team at my school. My very first football game in 7th grade in was probably one of the biggest moments in my life. My parents were never very thrilled about the idea of me playing football and this was a big step in our relationship, as this was my first grasp on independence. They let me go out on that field alone all by myself without their protection.…
