I have always aspired to be an astronaut ever since I was younger. That aspiration has continued being resilient but, in addition to being an astronaut, I would also love being an aerospace engineer or an astrophysicist at institutions like NASA or any other aeronautics and space association. Both professions would apply their discoveries in order to innovate new technologies to further space exploration. In the future, I want to help mankind set foot on Mars and possibly make science fiction a reality by also creating a settlement on the red planet. Also, I want to go farther into space in order to increase our understanding of how the universe works and discover new planets and stars that may come to aide mankind later on. Third, I want to …show more content…

I am interesting in applying to PLFSOM because I have a desire to ultimately become a primary care physician that works in underserved communities. Coming from a rural area, I know what a lack of providers in a region can do to a community. I have spent a lot of time in border towns since my dads family is originally from Mexico and I have been able to see first hand that even the biggest of border towns still has a very big proportion of their population that is underserved. Right now, I already use my Spanish to help the Spanish speaking patients that we see at our clinic but my Spanish medical terminology is not as strong as I would like. Being able to get my medical education from a school so close to the border would help me become the…

My Personal Goal Statement Every day I wake up, I ask myself how I can make a difference. This question has helped shape my personal values and principles and directed my path into the nursing field. Growing up in West Africa and witnessing firsthand the sufferings and impoverishment of the people around me, I developed a sense of compassion and willingness to make a difference and help alleviate their sufferings and put a smile on their faces. Healthcare delivery and poverty are two major underlying factors in the challenges faced in Africa, thus, when I got an opportunity to come into the United States, it was my golden ticket to finally give back to the community and make a difference. This led me into the nursing field; I started out as a Certified Nurse Assistant.…

Skinny. Most girls see it as a goal: if you are skinny you are beautiful. People saw me as the skinny girl who did not have to worry about what she ate; what they failed to notice was that food did not appeal to me, and I had a difficult time consuming it. Having lost all color in my skin, I was given a new nickname: Snow White. What they did not know about this Snow White was that she did not eat apples.…

I’ve been asked why I’ve decided to pursue emergency medicine as a specialty too many times to count. Every time, I end up asking some form of the same question: “If you were in a sudden emergency, be it on a playground, in a mall, on a plane, etc., what kind of doctor would you want around you?” Throughout most of my medical school career, I couldn’t decide which specialty I liked the best. I enjoyed internal medicine, surgery, and pediatrics. I loved OB/Gyn.…

Since my first GCSE Law lesson, I have been captivated by the subject's diverse array of fields and its tight grip on how society is run. Law allows our country to function, decides for us what is right or wrong and allows justice to be available for whoever seeks it, hence why I want to study law as a degree. When I visited Winchester Crown Court I was fascinated at how a barrister can so greatly influence the sentence and future of a defendant in just a few words. I want a career where my actions are immediately visible, providing me with the opportunity to better a client's future. Throughout my undergraduate sport and exercise science degree at The University of Birmingham, I have become fascinated with the interaction between psychology and physiology and how this can affect the cardiovascular/immune system and ultimately, health. It was my dissertation and modules which first aroused this interest, and completing a critical essay, debating whether high or low cardiovascular reactivity to acute psychological stress is the most detrimental to health, further enhanced this passion. Receiving 92% for that piece of work provides evidence of my underlying enthusiasm and work ethic in this area. However, I still seek to understand more about this fascinating topic, and believe studying an MRes in Exercise and Sport Science…

Medicine has always been a part of my life as I was born into a family where my grand parents were traditional healers who used natural herbs to heal people of their ailments. At an early age, I realized that I had more questions than answers about why people fall ill and can be treated using herbs. These questions ignited my interest to understand how humans benefitted from health care and subsequently provided my path to being admitted into Ambrose Alli University , Ekpoma in Nigeria to study Medicine & Surgery. While interacting and clerking patients during my clinical postings made me understand that most people become sick because they have rudimentary understanding of basic health care and restricted access to the best medical facilities…
