Since I can remember, I have always dreamt of a career in the business field. This was influenced by what I had been witnessing all throughout my youth. Growing up as the daughter of a European chef and business owner, I have always been surrounded by the complexities, challenges, and excitement of the food industry. It allowed me to observe the functionality a successful business, and has lead me to become involved in our family-owned business, Main Street Grille, as a server, and later as an Assistant Manager, where I carried out more administrative work. Through this work experience, I gained more insight on all aspects of running a business. Through DECA, my enthusiasm for management, marketing and entrepreneurship was embraced. At both District and Regional Competitions, I have competed in the Travel and Tourism sector of business and obtained nearly perfect scores on roleplays. DECA has allowed me to expand my knowledge of the business field and instil professionalism within me; which has been and will be applicable to all areas of my life, especially on an occupational level. From my experience learning about travel and tourism, I became more open-minded to career options in which I would be able to utilize marketing techniques practiced through DECA and Spanish communication skills that I have obtained throughout my high school and impending college career. Furthermore, it has directed me to pursue a potential career in International Business, possibly as an International Marketing or Finance Manager of a global corporation. In order to achieve in this area of business, it would be imperative to attain a bachelor’s degree in International Business and attend graduate school for attainment of a Master of Business Administration. DECA has been preparing me to succeed by providing me with learning experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, and management; all of which will be applied in my collegiate and occupational future.
