Personal Statement: Why I Want To Become A Member Of Fiji

When I think about Fiji I think about I think of a group of young men that have come together to better themselves in every aspect of life. I think of men that value and respect women. I think of a community that is determined to be dedicated learners. I think of a group of individuals that each value service and dedicate their time willingly to better the community. And most of all, I think of a brotherhood and friendships that will last a lifetime. Over the past few weeks I have been given the honor to be able to pledge this great fraternity and have loved being able to be a small part of the community. I have always believed that knowledge gives you the ability to develop a fuller life. Having a fraternity that has knowledge as one of its five values is very important to me and reaffirms my decision to pledge this fraternity. The brothers of Fiji have represented this value and having others around me that work tremendously hard to achieve academic excellence makes me want to do better in my studies as well. I could have described to you that I work hard, think critically, and care about others. Instead, I have elected to show you. I will show you through my actions throughout the rest of pledging and afterwards because I believe that my actions will speak louder than my words. I understand that there is much more that I have to prove if I ever want to become a brother in this great fraternity, and I am more than willing to put in the time and effort to do so.
