Hello, My name is Abigail Cox, this is why I want to be in Tennis. Tennis has been important in my life mostly because it challenges me to do hard things. When I am challenged by kids my age I can continue becoming a better tennis player. I want to do summer camp because I would like to grow into a better tennis player and still sharpen my skills over the summer. I can’t wait to see what tennis has in store for me this summer!

Sincerely,

Abigail Cox

Why Be On a Fitness Team? I am often asked, “why be on a fitness team, when this is an individual sport?”. I agree, this is an individual sport! When it comes down to show time, it is you, and you alone that is standing on that stage in 6 inch heels wearing the tiniest swimsuit decently possible. You are up there putting yourself, and your body on the line.…

Seeing my peers play tennis got me interested to join and although I was mediocre at first, I improved by applying my coach and friends’ advice. There were times I wanted to quit because I plateaued, but I stayed. I fell in love with my team because I finally found my place of belonging. I could not let my family down after all of their encouragement. After several practices filled with sweat and pain, I made it to varsity.…

Over the years I have gained a true passion for sports. It is something I do everyday. Without sports I am in a nonstop cycle of boredom. Now, I didn’t just magically pick up a baseball one day threw it around. I had to learn and practice consistently or I would not excel at any sport.…

When you feel as passionate as I do for a sport you prefer to be playing the game as often as possible. This in most cases means playing a select or club season in the off season of high school. Little would you know that playing the same sport in two different environments could possibly change your view on the sport entirely. For me volleyball is the game I feel a passionate love for, that is why I chose to play club and high school volleyball. Club volleyball's environment and competitiveness make a player a better athlete than high school, making club volleyball better.…

I’ve been playing hockey on a team for 7 years and I did skating lessons before that. My dad played hockey and still does he taught me how to skate and my sister played hockey before me and I want to be like her. I was on a house team for a couple years and we would switch off playing goalie. I liked that position and decided to switch to playing goalie after that. - Personal Statement For as long as I can remember I have always loved sports. Most children are naturally playful, but for me, my desire to be active stretched well pass my childhood years. In elementary school I was a part of a little league baseball team, in middle school I ran track, and in high school I became an even more diverse athlete by joining the baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. It was during that time when I realized my passion for sports medicine.…

The place where I spend my days is enclosed from the rest of the public. A place, that leaves my forehead trickling down with sweat. Where the wire fences carry windscreens, at the height of seven feet. A height that should prevent balls from escaping the cage. Up until a year ago, I was one of the most conceited people you’d ever meet. School has never been difficult for me, and when I was in middle school, I undoubtedly showed that to my classmates. If I earned a 102% on a test, I’d relentlessly question my classmates about their scores, impulsively blurt out my own score, and heartlessly cause them to hang their heads in self-disappointment. Eventually, I realized the reason I did this was because I assumed my only talents were affiliated with academics.…

about me and why I am going to college Why I am attending college. Im attending college partly because my parents are making me come and the other part is that I need to make sure that I can live by myself and that includes having my own job and not relying on everyone that I know. I have chosen ECTC because it was in my price range. All of the other schools that I would be wanting to attend would make me take that same classes that I am taking now so what would be the point in taking out huge loans that I cannot pay back yet. I am the first Hively to ever attend college.…

After playing soccer for nearly my whole life and eventually playing competitively in high school, I have grown a passion for the sport. This is why I decided that I would take up coaching as a way to gain some experience in the world of sport management. Luckily, friend of mine asked me to help him as an assistant coach for the under-12 soccer team he was coaching in the Ormond Beach Soccer Club recreational department. I saw this is a great opportunity to gain some experience in coaching and see how the sport is played through the coach’s eyes rather than being the player or just merely a fan of the game. Ever since I started playing, I have always thought of what it would be like coaching others and teaching younger players some of the things…

When I picture my future, the most prominent aspect of it is my happiness. The most probable source of my happiness would have to be finally believing I’ve done something great, something generating that gratifying feeling of “I made it”. I’m very fortunate to be able to say that throughout just about all of my school career, I’ve always known I wanted to work in a business-related profession and achieve success. Knowing that I want to pursue a prosperous career in this field, I have involved myself in karate, business classes and accounting activities, and leadership programs, just about all made possible by the Gear Up IV program.…
