Personal Statement: Why I Receive Their Grades

Decent Essays
Cs, D’s, F’s are mainly the grades that i would get. I can’t say that i'm proud of it but that's the reality of it. The classes never gave me any trouble, it's just that i would get really lazy. I know i'm not on the right path to success right now, but i know it's not too late for me to make that change and get back on track.
One of the main reasons i received the grades i got was because of my attendance. I would always ditch class, especially the ones i didn't like or didn't think were that important. Other times i just wouldn't show up to school. My parents always told me attendance was important, but i was ignorant and selfish so i didn't really care for much of what they had to say, but i've turned myself around and

Showing up to school everyday and on time is very important. Another reason why i got the grades i got is because i would never really do my homework, but again, it's not that i had any trouble with it, i was just really lazy to do it or i got distracted from it and did something else. To tell you the truth, i also hate homework. I hate homework with a passion. So since i never got around to doing it back then, i guess you can say it became a weakness of mine.
One thing i'm really good at is showing respect towards other. I’m a nice guy, but you can see a side of me i know you'll hate if you push my buttons. I respect anyone and everyone that has respect for me. I have no hate for others, especially if i don't know you. I say this because i know the majority of people are quick to judge without taking the time to get to know someone. A lot of my decision's came with outcomes that i didn't like, but i put myself in that position and i earned what i got because of the way i was and no one can change that but me. This year is my final year in high school and i'm going to make the most of it. I will give it my all this year. I will work hard for the best outcome i can possibly

All throughout my school career, starting all the way in elementary school, school came very easy for me. I found that I rarely had to try hard at anything because it seems like I just knew it. In my American government class, we use the term political socialization to describe the influence one’s family has on their own political identity. Although the political aspect of political socialization remains exclusive to the term, the concept that families have a profound influence on the social development of children is wide-ranging, even helping explain people's perceived value of a college education. In my own life, the expected influence of my family's experience with higher education on my own outlook never took. My family's own experience has presented me with both opportunities and challenges in pursuing my educational goals as well as testing the integrity of the goals.…

On the internet, there is a "meme" called the Asian grading system. Though amusing, it reveals some of the pressures that Asian Americans often face growing up with overbearing parents. Students without parents to push them struggle to catch up in the competitiveness environment that exists in high schools across America. I'm a victim of the race to perfection, academic excellence and the pressures of failure and shortcomings. I'm not the only one and I won't be the last.…

Grade Inflation Is grade inflation fair? Depends on who you might ask. When people think about grade inflation do they think about those classes, where thanks to a curve, they were able to go from a failing D to a passing C. Then there are others who think about their friend that never went to class, barely studied, and turned in assignments late who their grade got inflated to pass with a C thanks to a curve. There are two types of people, those who work hard and those who do not.…

Baylor Personal Statement I could hear conversation coming from inside the room. Confused and eager, I positioned myself behind the door. Why was no one excited? My biggest failure was in my AP Language & Composition class during my junior year in high school when I received a C on my report card for the first time. Grades were important in my house not because I have immigrant parents who valued grades over everything else, but because I put so much meaning in getting good grades. When I was little, I made a correlation between higher grades and success later on in life. I carried this belief with me when I started high school and still have pieces of the belief that remained. I enjoyed the idea of grades measuring your intelligence or even your worth as a student; to me it was a constant reminder to others and myself that I am considered “smart”.…
