Most people agree with the synopsis that finding a job in todays economy is difficult. I agree but I also disagree. For people who haven't received a college degree or have attained a degree from a low level university I must admit... finding a job will be challenging. In this day and age people are becoming more and more obsessed with education. Where as I don’t agree I cant argue with the system in place. You do need to have a degree from at least a mid level college. If you can fulfill that expensive but basic requirement then doors open for you. Every university had a job search program that lists hundreds of jobs you qualify for nationwide and even internationally. If you don’t know about this already I encourage you to go to your schools website and explore this software. It is just one door that can be opened to reveal your new and future

Summary: One of the more interesting readings in Behrens and Rosen’s Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum was “Many with New College Degree Find the Job Market Humbling”, by Catherine Rampell. She reveals just how severe our job market truly is. She explains that employment for recent college graduates strikes a low point. Also, the opening salaries for these scarce jobs plummeted compared to the previous years. Likewise, most jobs that these college graduates are taking do not even require a college education, such as waiting tables or working in fast food.…

Having listened to the Podcast presented titled “Navigating the Transition from School to the Workplace,” I have taken in a certain accountability as a student. The first lesson received from listening to the Podcast, is what Jeffery Selingo referred to as an expectancy to obtain a job once the college graduate has received a college degree. As Selingo described, most students, as well as parents, believe there is an obligatory job offering once they have received an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. This is definitely not the case when it comes to employers, who on average post ninety-four percent of jobs requiring a degree as well as a certain amount of experience. From learning this, I will seek for more experience-assisting positions such as internships, or apprenticeships.…

Sir Kenneth Robinson states, “When we went to school, we were kept there with a story, which was if you worked hard and did well and got a college degree you would have a job. Our kids don’t believe that—and they’re right not to, by the way. You are better having a degree than not, but it’s not a guarantee any more”, (Ted Talk 01:10). The job economy today is very scarce. It’s difficult these days for people to find a job once they have graduated from college.…

After finishing college, many search for the silver lining in their field of industry because their area of work is too impacted. A research on stagnant salaries and the recession has shown that “the graduating class of 2009 saw a decline in available positions, averaging 11.5% below last year's reports” (Maatta 24). As the years go on and more people get degrees, there will be less jobs available leading to the rise of unemployment. A graduate will be more qualified in certain lines of work, but there is still a wide range of careers that provides security. A writer from World Trends and Forecast says that “although the labor market requires higher skill than in the past, many good jobs do not require college skills” (Cole).…

Real life has started for me when I stepped out of the college. When I was in my bachelor 's, I didn’t have any plans for my career at that time. I thought I would get into a multinational company with ease because of the grades I had. I used to see the seniors who couldn’t get any job having good grades, but I didn’t even care because I was so overconfident that I didn’t even listen to take any suggestions from my family members and from my seniors too. But things started to turn in a different way when I stepped out of the college.…
