Personal Statement: Why College Athletes Should Be Paid

I have several friends who play college sports. They love playing but, they spend a lot of time practicing and conditioning. They hardly have any time to themselves and they don’t have any money. College sports are very time demanding and the athletes don’t get any money for their participation. I think that’s wrong. Playing a college sport is like having a job. The average day of a college athlete usually starts out with having early morning weights or conditioning. Then they have to go to their classes then they have a 3-4 hour practice after. They then have a study hall after practice and go home and go to bed. College athletes do this mostly year around for 4-5 days a week. I think college athletes should be paid for their work.
