Personal Statement: Who Am I

Defining the question, “Who am I?”, takes a lot of internal thinking. Especially if it’s directed at you for a writing assignment. You must think of the qualities you have as a person that others see in you and also how you see yourself. There are many perspectives to compare and discuss with others when one is asked “Who am I?”. I believe that the most important perspective is your own. What you believe in yourself often decides how you take on certain things in your life. Confidence is a huge key in every human being, no matter how much or little they have of it. All of this book is going to be written completely with one perspective, and that perspective is mine. I, Siera Kaeann Karnes, was born in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Even though I’ve only lived there four years of my life, I consider Oklahoma to be my home. Since my father is in the military, we move every 3 years. Most people call us “military brats” just because our parents/guardians are somehow involved with the military. Us “military brats” are not that different from other American kids. My plan for going to Penn State University is to do extremely well in high school and study for anything that needs to be studied for. To receive any scholarships for sports, I will need to practice daily and become involved with the sport year round. I will need to strive for MVP’s and go to as many clinics as possible, with also keeping my grades up. To become a child psychologist, I will need to thoroughly study child psychology, which is how children develop mentally, physically, and emotionally. I will need to also study the way the minds and bodies of children with Down’s Syndrome so that I can understand how to work with them. To become a volleyball coach for high schoolers, I need to become certified with a sporting clinic. This may take some time but will definitely be worth the weight if I get to teach about something that I
