Personal Statement: Where Your Ego Ends

Where Your Ego Ends For everybody, life is different. Some people aspire to be nuclear physicists and others are content with working minimum wage for the rest of their lives. This is all because of perspective. Being that I was born as a millennial, I will have a different perspective than many baby boomers. This is caused by the social and personal constructs that every human is subjected to. Personally, I believe in equality, hard work, and being who you are. But, as many people’s perspectives are different, it is these differences that make us a better society.

I procrastinate, I have a short attention span, and I don’t set goals. Over time, these habits have made my grades appear lower than what an “Exceptional Student” would get. I would say I am intelligent, because if I care for the work I will get it done, and I will complete it with flying colors. But if the work bores me, I will stay up all night doing anything except the work. I have learned lessons from many teachers, but one of the best teachers I’ve ever had was Mr. Crosbie. I took his class freshman year and Junior year. He is on the top of my list not only because of his humor, but because he showed me what it means to overcome obstacles and why integrity is so important. He is one of the most genuine people I have ever met in my life, and he is one of the strongest also. He had a stroke ten years before I took his class, and the doctors said he may not be able to walk again. But after determination, hard work, and believing in himself, he achieved what was thought to be nearly impossible. His Human Biology class was the best course I have taken, partially because it gave me so much information that I will use in the career field I am going into, and mostly because the way he taught the class was exactly what I needed to excel, no matter which path I

There is a deep seated concept of fulfilling the familial/societal expectation which is conceived as the status quo. Certain types of people veer off the path of status quo and explore their individualism in order to find their passion which may contradict the standard dealt to them. Often times those who explore their individualism find what their role to humanity is and can attain a sense of belonging and mental happiness because they truly know who they are. This disrespect given to those not travelling a status quo journey is often times discourages this individualistic journey of each human to their own passions and causes a mass conformity which most of the population has to abide by .Throughout Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller presents Willy Loman as a middle class man who works hard but has to constantly dispense lies to his family and friends in order to maintain the image of ascending status.…

I could not exactly understand what made me so different from my classmates and I desired more than anything to gain the self-confidence to express myself.…
